a few pictures for your visual pleasure

hiyall,
this picture is my stinkin' cute Halloween purse made from 2 kitchen towels that I got at the dollar store! The pattern came from the August issue of American Patchwork and Quilting magazine. I had to improvise on the handles. I had found a set of handles on a old purse I made waaaaaaay back in 78'~ I removed the handles and guess what I found??? Abby my dog had channeled her human spirit aka Ewell Gibbons and gnarled on them, making them unusable. grrrrrr.......I removed the rod and screws, shove the rods thru the hem of the towels, then made cloth handles from the side scraps of the towel. punched a hole in the handle and threaded it onto the rod. I made sure the screws were secure firmly. Now I have handles on my holloweenie purse. OH yeah, I pre washed the towels so the dyes would bleed a little. I can wait til the valentines and easter towels come out. Which should be in about 2 weeks. (snicker-snort) This picture is one of the golf tee pincushion I was telling you about. I gave this little pin cushion to my students in the XBlock class as a thank you for taking my class.Super easy to make, take a 2 1/2 in dia. circle of fabric, work it like your making a yo-yo. instead of closing it tight, stuff with fluff THEN close it tight and secure. hot glue the tee to a 2 in dia circle of felt. then hot clue the cushion to the felt. as the glue is cooling, push the felt up in spots to form a wavy bottom. easy peasy! My students got all excited over them because they love the idea of a small portable pin cushion that fits easily on top of a spool of thread. This picture is of the progress of my ALSQ piece. its getting there!
Keep On Stitch'n On!

I always liked the oak leaves pattern, but I hesitate to do applique. Love the four patches behind them!
